![]() ![]() David and Ray raised their family in Richardson. Ready to get back to Texas, he accepted a position in the billing department at Collins Radio Company. The family moved to Falls Church, Virginia where David worked for Distributive Education Clubs of America national operations in Washington DC. Daughters Karen and Janet were born during those years. They married Septemat Lakewood Baptist Church in Dallas.ĭavid began his career teaching Distributive Education in west Texas high schools. He later returned to North Texas and earned his MBA.Ī blind date in Dallas introduced David to Lillian Ray Evans, the love of his life. Leading the band was Drum Major PFC David Robinson.Īfter Honorable Discharge from the US Army Air Corps, David completed his BA in Business at North Texas Teachers College in Denton. After victory was declared in Europe, the band led12,000 Allied troops parading through the streets of Naples, Italy. In addition to military marches and classical music, they played the popular Big Band Music, David's lifelong favorite. Through invitation, he played with the San Carlo Symphony Orchestra in the Palm Theatre in Naples and made entertainment tours throughout Italy. As member of the military band, he played military formations, concerts, dances, retreats and funerals. After Basic Training with the US Army, David was stationed in Naples, Italy, playing trumpet and cornet. Like so many young men at the time, David's education was interrupted by World War II. As he grew, he expanded to brass instruments, playing in the Weatherford City Band and High School Band.Īfter graduating from Weatherford High School in 1940, he went on to Weatherford College and North Texas Teachers College. Growing up among a multitude of loved ones and friends, his childhood was filled with music, adventure, learning and love.ĭavid learned to play piano beginning at age 5. ![]() His life was defined by a strong Christian faith, love of country, love of family and a strong work ethic. The only child of Reed Bratton Robinson and Gladys Howard Robinson, he was born at home on South Main Street in Weatherford, TX. ![]() David Charles Robinson, 95, passed away December 24, 2018, in Richardson, TX. ![]()
